Google Meet runs in a browser tab, which changes two things: how audio reaches CueNova, and how screen sharing captures your desktop. Because CueNova is a desktop application rather than a browser extension, it sits outside the tab entirely — there is nothing to install into Chrome, no extension in your extensions list, and no Google Workspace permission to grant.
No extension, and why that matters
Browser extensions are the obvious way to build something for a browser-based meeting platform, and they are the wrong way for this. An extension is enumerable: it appears in your extension list, it requests page permissions, and on a managed Workspace account it can be inventoried by an administrator.
CueNova is a Windows desktop application. It captures system audio at the OS level, which includes whatever the Chrome tab is playing, and it draws its own window. Nothing is installed into the browser, so there is nothing in the browser to enumerate.
This also means it is unaffected by the browser you use. Meet in Chrome, Edge or any Chromium browser produces the same system audio, and CueNova treats them identically.
Google Meet screen sharing, three ways
Meet offers three sharing modes and they capture differently. The distinction matters if you plan to rely on Stealth Mode.
Your entire screen
Captures the full desktop through the OS picker and the Windows compositor. Capture exclusion applies on supported paths, and this is the mode worth testing because it is the one interviewers request.
A window
Captures one application. Anything outside that window is not in the frame at all, including the CueNova overlay.
A browser tab
Meet's tab sharing captures the rendered contents of a single tab. Desktop applications are not part of a tab, so they never appear in this mode.
Google Meet setup
Confirm the browser is using your default audio output
Meet follows the system output device unless you have changed it in Meet's in-call settings. The default is what CueNova captures.
Play any audio to confirm the route
If a video plays through your speakers or wired headphones, CueNova can hear the call through the same path.

- Do I need a Chrome extension for Google Meet?
- No. CueNova is a Windows desktop application that captures system audio outside the browser. There is nothing to install into Chrome and nothing that appears in your extensions list.
- Can a Google Workspace administrator see that I am using it?
- A Workspace administrator manages Google accounts, browser policy and Workspace applications. A desktop program that is not connected to any of those is outside that scope. If your machine itself is managed by an employer with endpoint-management software installed, that is a separate matter governed by your device policy.
- Does it work if the interviewer shares their screen instead?
- Yes, and it is useful there — a coding prompt shown on the interviewer's shared screen is on your display too, so Capture can read the question from it.
